einie is an app and a small device that show a home’s solar system on your phone. This page says what we collect, why, who it goes to and how to delete it. We don’t sell data, show ads or track you across other apps or websites.
What we collect
- Your account: your name and email address. If you sign in with Apple or Google, the account ID they give us (and, with Apple, the email it shares, which can be a private relay address). If you use a password, we keep only a scrambled form of it (a hash) that can’t be turned back into the password.
- Your home’s readings: what the einie device reads from the inverter every few seconds: solar power, the house’s use, the battery, the grid and the generator, and the inverter’s settings. Also what you enter about the home: its name, its area, the battery size and your bills settings.
- Changes you make: inverter settings, switches and routines, so the device can apply them and the home’s activity list can show them.
- The people in a home: who is in it, their role and the invites that were sent.
- Your phone: a notification token from Apple or Google so we can send alerts, the phone’s name, and a token for home-screen widgets.
- Security records: when you sign in and the internet address requests come from, used to slow down password guessing and to fix problems. We don’t use them for anything else.
Why
Only to run einie: to show your home’s data to you and the people you share it with, to send the notifications you choose, to apply the changes you make, to sign you in and keep your account safe. The only emails we send are the codes you ask for when creating an account or choosing a new password.
Who sees it
- People in your home. Everyone in a home sees its readings and settings. Owners also see the email addresses of the people in it.
- Services that run einie for us: Amazon Web Services (our servers in Frankfurt, Germany, and the sign-in emails), Apple and Google (sign-in and notifications) and Cloudflare (this website and our domain). They handle the data only to provide their service to us.
- Anyone else only if the law requires it.
How long we keep it
- Readings keep their full detail for 7 days, then become 5-minute summaries that stay with the home, so its history and bills keep working.
- Sign-in codes stop working after 15 minutes. A phone that isn’t used for 6 months is signed out.
- When you delete your account, your account, your sign-ins and your phones’ notification tokens are deleted straight away, and you leave every home you were in. The homes and their readings stay for their other people.
Your choices
- Delete your account in the app: You › your account › Delete account. If you signed in with Apple, we also ask Apple to end einie’s access.
- Turn notifications off in the app or in your phone’s settings.
- Leave a home, or as an owner remove someone from it, in the app under People.
- Ask us for a copy of your data, a correction or its deletion: [email protected].
Children
einie is meant for adults who look after a home’s power. We don’t knowingly collect data from children under 13.
Changes
If this page changes in a way that matters, we’ll say so in the app before it applies. The date at the top shows the latest version.
